There are many positive aspects of fishing, including getting to spend time with loved ones, enjoying mother nature and just relaxing. Here are some great tips for improve your fishing ability, so you can enjoy your time that much more.

When fishing in a river or lake, sometimes casting close to the shore gives you the best results. Fish who depend upon insects for food generally find them in abundance close to the shore, so you may get more bites by casting your lure in these areas. However, you have to watch out for weeds if you use this method.

If you fish at night it's a good idea to use lighted bobbers. A lighted bobber includes a miniature bulb so that it is possible to see your line when a fish is biting. When fish bite at the bait, the lighted bobber will appear to bounce on the water and alert the fisher that something is biting at their hook.

Wearing camouflage might seem like something that should be done only for hunting, but it also works well with fishing. Fish do not see overly well, but they do see colors, so avoid wearing bright colors or obvious patterns that could alert the fish or scare them away. For best results, wear earth tones.

If you plan to fish from a boat, make sure the flooring is as dry as it can be. It could be dangerous if you should slip or trip, especially with sharp hooks and other equipment around. To dry the floor, use a towel or a mop.

Whether it's sunny outside or not, it's always a good idea to bring sunscreen along. The sun's beams reflect off the water so you want to be protected.

Every fisherman should include a scale as part of their gear when they head out on any fishing trip. You won't be able to discern if this will be the trip that you catch the biggest fish you've ever seen so you need a scale. This can also be beneficial if you want to know when you catch and release fish.

Be cautious when wading in the water. Whenever wading in a river, make sure to walk carefully and safely. Sound travels a long way through water, and you will spook the fish by making too much noise. So move slowly and do your best not to disturb the river bed or the river's inhabitants.

While fishing it is important to remain quiet. Any type of loud noise will frighten the fish and scare them away. When you fish quietly, your chances of catching a fish increase dramatically.

If you're hoping to have some sort of memento of your fishing trip, but plan on releasing the fish you catch, be sure to bring a camera. This allows the fish to live and also lets you show everyone what you caught.
