Try Fishing To Help Relieve Your Stress

Many people want to fish but don't know how to get started. If you're serious about learning to fish, read on to learn some useful information about fishing.

After finding the perfect spot to fish, move slightly upstream and cast your line there. The current will pull your bait right by the fish. The action of the water moving your hook downstream makes the bait more attractive to nearby fish. This is an effective method especially if you are fishing near an obstruction.

Always check the weather before going on a fishing trip so that you can be sure that you will be safe. It is also good to bring along a radio to stay up-to-date in case there are any changes in the weather.

Fishermen should try to blend in with the environment when they fish. Fish don't have excellent eye sight but they are not colorblind, so they can easily be spooked if you wear bright colors or anything else that is particularly noticeable. Use neutral tones that blend into a natural background.

Don't just tie your hook to your line haphazardly; utilize the improved clinch knot. Do this by threading your line at the end of the hook, then turning the line five times around the line. Finally, thread the end along the eye and make your first coil. Pull the end of the line as tightly as possible to finish.

Colored Grubs

Use lighter colored grubs to fish for bass; most bass fishermen do this. Yellow, chartreuse, white or smoke colored grubs can be extremely effective. Grubs with translucent bodies often have metallic flecks that reflect light and increase your chances of success. If you're having issues catching fish, try using a grub that is the same color as the water.

When fishing in a river or lake, sometimes casting close to the shore gives you the best results. Fish like shallow waters, as they're easier to find food in, so you're more likely to get a bite there as well. Just watch out for the grass and weeds!

When you are fishing on the bank, you must be extra careful not to set anything on fire. Many people smoke and fish at the same time; make sure your cigarette or the lighter doesn't catch anything on fire. The bank itself may be wet, but the surrounding foliage is often quick to catch on fire.

If you are practicing catch and release, then don't fight when reeling in fish. Fighting a fish can cause serious injuries to the fish. If you're not able to reel it in, then allow it to go so you don't kill it.

You are now ready to go forth and catch fish. Always keep in the back of your mind that these tips are just scratching the surface of the wealth of information available on how to be a better angler. There is a lot more information out there about fishing, so be sure to always be on the lookout for new tips that can help you to learn how to fish.

You should always wear sunscreen when fishing – even in cool weather. Sunburn can quickly occur due to the reflection of the sun's harmful rays off of the surface of the water.
