Larger Fish

Consider which way the fish may be migrating in the stream you are fishing in to determine an upstream or downstream cast. When fishing during the springtime, for example, casting uphill will allow you to position your lure ahead of your prey. During fall, fish will move in the opposite direction. Therefore, you need to fish downhill.

The larger the fish you seek to catch, the larger the bait you should have on your hook. Even though larger bait can cost more, you can get a bigger reward in larger fish if you get some. This makes sense because a larger fish would naturally eat something larger in their water, so they would also be interested in a larger size of bait.

A lot of bass fishermen like to fish using grubs that are light in color. Great success can be had with yellow, white, chartreuse and smoke-colored grubs. Translucent grubs, which contain metal flecks, reflect light and increase your chances of success. If nothing seems to be biting, choose a grub which is the same color as the water.

You will find a certain set of indispensable gear is required for any fishing excursion. What you need will depend on your destination. Typically, you will need a hat, sun protection, and bug repellent. You should also pack a flashlight, compass and cell phone, especially if you are going into a new location.

If you lack the experience of a seasoned fishermen, bass fishing is an ideal introduction to the sport. The reason is because bass stand a greater chance of biting, and it is easier to reel them in. When going fishing, be sure to pack enough water and food, especially when it is hot outside. Sitting in the sun for hours at a time can drain your body, so it is important that you keep it replenished to maintain your energy levels. Bring meals and some snacks, depending on the amount of time you intend to spend out fishing.
